1 PicADay Project: Day 365

I’ll just leave you with a quote from one of my favorite movies, The Truman Show……..

Good morning! And in case I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!

Just Django, a cute little friend I met last night.

iPhone Self Portrait and Only 1 More to Go!

I’m so appreciative of all who have stopped by and you who have left comments/ compliments.  I’ve enjoyed meeting (and I use that loosely) you here on the ‘blososphere” (sp) and I’m just in awe at the talented artists I’ve come across since last August.  I’ve learned quite a bit this year and I am still going to take that photography course.  I’ve only been talking about it for a year.  But hey, time and money you know.

About 10 weeks from now I will turn 50.  I’m so grateful to God for blessing me in my life thus far. I’m planning a big milestone birthday celebration!  It will be catered, my husband’s band (LeeAnn Womack’s band) will play jazz and I will be displaying 100 of my favorite photos from this blog.  My party guests, if they so choose, can take one home with them.    Maybe I’ll come back and post some photos from my party. (sorry about the name dropping, but that’s what we Nashvillian’s are so good at.)

I will be starting a new blog in the next month and it will be called “Grace Happens”. I will place the link to it on this blog in a few weeks. I don’t know if I will post on this blog anymore, I will probably incorporate my photos on the new blog. (That is, if I can figure out how to work WordPress.org) It’s greek to me so far.

I’m making it sound so final, but I will be visiting you guys from time to time.

Only one more tomorrow.  I’ll try to make it good. 🙂

The LORD bless you and keep you;  the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Light Show

Now that I’m here near the end, I can’t seem to get any inspiration. I’ve stooped to light painting, or whatever you call it when you push the shutter button and shake the camera in front of lights. Not much skill to it, but sometimes you get some cool looking colors. Here’s one that I took of the dashboard lights in my car.

1 PicADay Project: Day 360

Wow, I can’t believe that I only have 5 more days on this project!!!  It’s gone by so quickly!

Here’s a photo of some peppers that I was cutting for my husband’s omelette the other night.  They were so beautiful and colorful that I couldn’t resist taking some shots of them.  I think it took me about 40 minutes to actually get them cut up.  I guess my husband will cut them up himself next time. 🙂

1 PicADay Project: Day 358

According to the U.S. Treasury Fact Sheet on Coins and Currency the motto IN GOD WE TRUST was placed on U.S. coins because of increased religious sentiment existing during the Civil War. Secretary of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase received many appeals from devout people, throughout our country, urging that the United States recognize the Deity of God on it’s coins. The first letter dated November 13, 1861 was written to Secretary Chase by Rev. M. R. Watkinson, a minister from Rileyville, PA.  It read:

Dear Sir: You are about to submit your annual report to the Congress respecting the affairs of the national finances.
One fact touching our currency has hitherto been seriously overlooked. I mean the recognition of the Almighty God in some form on our coins.
You are probably a Christian. What if our Republic were not shattered beyond reconstruction? Would not the antiquaries of succeeding centuries rightly reason from our past that we were a heathen nation? What I propose is that instead of the goddess of liberty we shall have next inside the 13 stars a ring inscribed with the words PERPETUAL UNION; within the ring the all seeing eye, crowned with a halo; beneath this eye the American flag, bearing in its field stars equal to the number of the States united; in the folds of the bars the words GOD, LIBERTY, LAW.
This would make a beautiful coin, to which no possible citizen could object. This would relieve us from the ignominy of heathenism. This would place us openly under the Divine protection we have personally claimed. From my hearth I have felt our national shame in disowning God as not the least of our present national disasters.
To you first I address a subject that must be agitated.

What if Rev. M.R. Watkins could see our country now?  God have mercy on us!

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

Forest of Light

I previously posted a photo of this field of trees back in the spring.  Click here to see the  previous post.  I drove by a couple of days ago in the morning and because it was a little foggy, beams of sunlight were visable coming through the trees.  I had to stop to snap another shot.  I think I like this one better.  Which one do you like better?

Picture Show (Mirror setting)

Here’s yesterday’s photo using Picture Show’s mirror setting.  This setting is fun to play with on photos because it makes them abstract and really interesting looking.
