1 PicADay Project: Day 260

Two Unprecidented Days in Nashville TN May 1 & 2, 2010

I’ve posted an iPhone photo of my front lawn but this is NOTHING compared to what other people are going through right now in the metro area surrounding Nashville TN! Here’s a few highlights:

650 water rescues

8 confirmed dead

All three interstates closed

Over 18 inches of rain in two days

Cumberland River went from 37 to 49 ft which is about 9 feet above flood level

23 metro schools damaged

New cars from a new car lot floating down the street and piling up on top of each other.

A school portable trailer floating down the interstate and disentegrating when it hit an 18 wheeler.

Bridges washed out.

You always see these incredible images on TV of other places but it’s really surreal when it’s happening to your area.  My thoughts and prayers are with the people who have been hit hard.

1 PicADay Project: Day 251

Prom Guys

My son Zach attended his Senior Prom last week. Since his girlfriend is currently in Florida, he went along with two other couples. Here is a photo of the guys doing their best modeling poses. Zach is on the right, Jake in the middle and Thomas on the left. Aren’t they handsome?

This photo was taken at The Parthenon in Nashville’s Centennial Park. Nashville’s Parthenon is an exact full scale replica of the original in Athens Greece.

(edited in Picnik)

To see a previous photo that I took of the Parthenon replica click here. I posted it on the 8th day of this 365 photoblog. https://jansmith2911.wordpress.com/2009/08/22/1-picaday-project-day-8/

1 PicADay Project: Day 134

Here’s a photo I took downtown Nashville from the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge.

Here’s the clock hanging on the wall in the Union Station Hotel.

1 PicADay Project: Day 122

While I was downtown on Saturday I walked across the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge.  Here’s a ‘greeting card’ from good ‘ole Nashville TN.  🙂

1PicADay Photo #23 (The Standard-Nashville TN)wm

Ok – so I’m in a “pretty picture” mood right now.  I took this photo in downtown Nashville.  There are so many beautiful buildings there.  I hope to capture many more to share.  This is The Standard at the Smith House Restaurant. (love the name!:))   I’ve never eaten there but a friend told me it’s very good.  My usual places to eat are McDonald’s or Taco Bell (not good on many different levels).  Anyway maybe I’ll ask my husband to take me here on our 24th anniversary this year.
