1 PicADay Project: Day 328

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

I took my daughter to see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast a few weeks ago which was the closing show for the 2009-2010 Broadway season at our local Tennessee Performing Arts Theatre.  This is one of my daughter’s favorite Disney stories and we were unable to get tickets when we visited NYC in March.  The actors did a wonderful job, especially the guy who played Gaston, Nathaniel Hackmann.  He had such a great voice and great stage presence.

I think this photo turned out pretty good considering the following…

  • 18 rows back and all the way to the right
  • Canon SX120IS point & shoot
  • guard (aka: usher) 8 feet away
  • no flash
  • had to cover the lighted LCD screen on my camera
  • low light

Mickey X 2

Here’s one just for fun.  A photo of some Mickey mugs that I took at Disney that I edited in Picnik because it wasn’t a really good photo to start with.  I’ve put the original photo below.  I used the clone tool in Picnik to fix ‘Mickey Right’s’ left eye.  He had an awful boo boo.

1 PicADay Project: Day 109

This past October when we were at Disney Hollywood Studios, my son went to the American Idol Experience as a guardian for his classmates who were all under the age of 18. They talked him and my daughter into trying out as well.
Zachary didn’t really want to do it and as it turned out he was the only one that got through both auditions to be on the show.
They do approximately six shows a day with three contestants on each show. They have a huge auditorium with a live host and live judges that give feedback. They have a finale show at the end of each day and the winner of that show gets a chance to go to the front of the line at any ‘real’ American Idol audition.
He sang “You Really Got Me” by The Kinks. Zachary didn’t win but it was a fun and enjoyable experience for all of us. I was very proud of him and also proud of my daughter who got through the first audition.
This is a photo I took of Zach on the big jumbo screen above the right of the stage.

Ok – So I’m on a Disney kick….Here’s a different view of the Castle and fireworks. Everybody on earth should have a chance to watch fireworks at Cinderella’s castle. It’s the best!

1 PicADay Project: Day 102

Here’s a shot of “Spaceship Earth” across the lake at Epcot in Orlando. There definitly is no place on earth like Disney!

American Idol light

This is a light fixture on the ceiling of The American Idol Experience at Disney Hollywood Studios. I just thought it was pretty. Obviously this is one of my favorite Disney parks for photographing. 🙂

Here’s another photo from Disney Hollywood Studios. This is located down the street behind the American Idol Experience. I love the tropical palm trees.

1 PicADay Project: Day 76

We went to the “Lights, Motors, Action” stunt show at Disney Hollywood Studios.  This is one show that you don’t want to miss when you visit this park.  The set was made to look like a village in France.  I loved the buildings and used my zoom to take some pics.  Here’s one that I played with in Corel and to make it resemble a painting.  Lights motors action house painting
