Inspiration for My Next Blog Project

I can’t believe that I have only have 33 days left for this project.¬† At the beginning I wasn’t sure if I’d keep it going, but I did. ūüôā¬† It seems that I just began a few weeks ago.¬†

So I’ve been thinking about what I want to do next after¬†this project and thanks to¬†my friend, Christopher Phillips, who recently posted the following excerpt,¬† I have confirmation of what I was thinking about all along.¬†¬†The words in this¬†statement made me cry and really spoke to me and I can’t wait to see what God gives to me to share over the next year.¬† So I can’t really say what it will look like specifically.¬† I just know that¬†I want my photography and my¬†blog¬†to be¬†inspired by God to¬†encourage and uplift people and to allow others to see God through the beauty he has created.

We¬†need more people to shine¬†God’s light because light¬†ALWAYS overpowers the darkness.

In order to communicate the message entrusted to her by Christ, the church needs art.¬† Art must make perceptible, and as far as possible attractive, the world of the spirit, or the invisible, of God.¬† It must therefore translate a unique capacity to take one or other facet of the message and translate it into colors, shapes, and sounds which nourish the intuition of those who look or listen.¬† It does so without emptying the message itself of its transcendent value and its aura of mystery‚Ķ¬† In Christ, God has reconciled the world to himself.¬† All believers are called to bear witness to this; but it is up to you, men and women who have given your lives to art, to declare with all the wealth of your ingenuity that in Christ the world is redeemed: the human person is redeemed, the human body is redeemed, and the whole creation which, according to Saint Paul, ‚Äėawaits impatiently the revelation of the children of God‚Äô is redeemed‚Ķ¬† This is your task.¬† Humanity in every age, and even today, looks to works of art to shed light upon its path and destiny‚Ķ¬† Beauty is a key to the mystery and a call to transcendence.¬† It is an invitation to savor life and to dream of the future‚Ķ¬† Artists of the world, may your many different paths all lead to that infinite Ocean of beauty where wonder becomes awe, exhilaration, unspeakable joy.

Zach in Central Park

I went back through my photos from our NYC trip in March and found a few more that I want to post.¬† Here’s one of Zach resting on a bench on the Mall at Central Park.¬†¬†(I guess you use the word ‘on’ instead of ‘in’?)

I think the kids were more tired than we were.  Wusses!

Alabama the Beautiful

My children hate Alabama and it’s only because every time we visit their grandparent’s in Florida, we have to drive the whole length of the state¬† on¬†‘boring’ Interstate 65.¬†

Of course along the way there are signs that say “Alabama the Beautiful” at which my children always scoff.¬†¬†I’ve tried to point out a few things that are beautiful¬†each time¬†we make the pilgrimage from Tennessee to Florida.

My daughter and I stopped at a gas station along the way to Florida last week and I looked up and saw this beautiful scene. Maybe there is a little bit of truth in Alabama’s statement of how beautiful their state is.

Northwest Florida Beaches

The most beautiful beaches in the world are located in Northwest Florida. I don’t remember the name of the beach for this photo, but it’s located between Seaside FL and Panama City Beach Fl.¬† I have never seen any sand on any other¬†beach more white than the sand in this part of the world. And as you can see, the color of the water can be quite beautiful and colorful as well.¬†

Seaside Cottage

Many scenes of the 1998 film The Truman Show were shot in Seaside FL. The movie’s director Peter Weir was planning on building a movie set town for the movie when his wife, Wendy, happened to see Seaside featured in an architect’s magazine and thought it would be perfect for the film. The former superintendent of Okaloosa Schools, and now a member of the Florida Senate, state Senator Don Gaetz, was one of the original property owners of Seaside, and his personal cottage was utilized as the Burbanks’ house in the film.

This house is actually on the street from the Truman Show scene on which Truman (Jim Carey) is driving down fast to get away after finding out his life is a TV show.

Click here to see a photo of the quaint little Seaside Post Office in the center of the town.  I took it last November when I was in Seaside.
