1 PicADay Project: Day 329

Tupelo Street – Seaside FL

I’m not for certain, but I think this is the actual street that Jim Carrey drove down in the movie “The Truman Show” when he was trying to escape Seahaven.

Seaside Cottage

Many scenes of the 1998 film The Truman Show were shot in Seaside FL. The movie’s director Peter Weir was planning on building a movie set town for the movie when his wife, Wendy, happened to see Seaside featured in an architect’s magazine and thought it would be perfect for the film. The former superintendent of Okaloosa Schools, and now a member of the Florida Senate, state Senator Don Gaetz, was one of the original property owners of Seaside, and his personal cottage was utilized as the Burbanks’ house in the film.

This house is actually on the street from the Truman Show scene on which Truman (Jim Carey) is driving down fast to get away after finding out his life is a TV show.

Click here to see a photo of the quaint little Seaside Post Office in the center of the town.  I took it last November when I was in Seaside.

Hope your Holiday Season is going great so far. Here is a photo of a Christmas tree and it’s reflection in a mirror.  I took this with my iPhone in a store in Seaside Florida at Thanksgiving.  So natural and beautiful.

1 PicADay Project: Day 108

I’m posting a ‘guest’ photographer’s photo today. My friend Ginger went to Florida with me last week and this is a photo that she took with her phone at the beach of our daughters playing in the surf. I think it is beautiful!!!! (Added a little sepia tone to it)

Thanks Ginger….you rock…and so do our daughters! 🙂

1PicADay Project: Day 107

I took this picture with my iPhone of the little post office in Seaside FL yesterday… I used the ‘vintage photo’ setting on my ‘Photo Studio’ app in my iPhone to make it look like an old photo. I love the way it turned out! Seaside is the little village where they filmed ‘The Truman Show’. If you go to northwest Fl you must visit. It is a beautiful little quaint village.
