Even though the leaves have only just begun to change here in Tennessee this year, I pulled this photo out from last fall. I took it on Natchez Trace Parkway on a Sunday afternoon when my son and I went for a drive.
Natchez Trace Parkway begins in Natchez, Mississippi and ends near Nashville TN. It is only a two lane road with a speed limit of 40 miles per hour on one long stretch and never exceeding 50 miles per hour on the other portion. It is a very pristine and beautiful drive and is 444 miles long. Commercial vehicles are prohibited and it has numerous historical sites to see along the way. Originally it was a game trail used by Natchez, Choctaw and Chickasaw peoples in the late 18th century.
I have a friend, Rick, who lives near the Trace that told me he drove it everyday for a few years to and from work. He said he would turn on his music and just enjoy the peace and quiet of the landscape every morning and afternoon.
I have driven it from Nashville to Tupelo Mississippi with my mother-n-law and children and I might be a little biased but I think the Tennessee portion is the best.
