1 PicADay Project: Day 31

Time for something different I think……this is a photo of a cannon that is located at the Stones River National Cemetery near Murfreesboro, TN.  I stopped one day as I was driving the back road to Murfreesoboro (I’m known to go back roads a lot because there’s so much more interesting things to photograph).

Today, more than 6,100 Union soldiers are buried in Stones River National Cemetery.  Of these, 2,562 are unknown. Nearly 1,000 veterans, and some family members, who served in the century since the Civil War are also interred there.

I’m very grateful for all American Veterans who have have given so much  so we can enjoy living in the greatest nation in the world!  And thanks to their families as well for their sacrifices!!!
